Paris Saint-Germain is preparing for the possible departure of Nuno Mendes, as negotiations for a contract extension have stalled.
Discussions for a new deal have hit a standstill due to the Portuguese defender’s salary demands. Mendes is seeking an increase from his current salary of €3.4 million annually, arguing that his status as a regular starter justifies a raise.
However, PSG has adjusted its salary policy and seems less inclined to offer high wages. If no agreement is reached, the club may consider parting ways with Mendes, whose contract runs until 2026.
In case of departure, PSG has already identified Alejandro Balde, the young left-back from Barcelona, as a potential replacement. Although no talks have started yet, the 21-year-old could be a target for the summer of 2025. With a contract running until 2028 and a value estimated at €50 million, his transfer is expected to be challenging but not impossible for PSG.
