Kevin De Bruyne (33), whose contract with Manchester City expires this June, appears set to leave Europe for a new adventure.
According to The Athletic, the Belgian midfielder, who has played 18 matches and scored 2 goals this season, will part ways with the Skyblues at the end of the campaign.
And De Bruyne isn’t planning to stay in Europe. He is expected to join Major League Soccer (MLS), more specifically San Diego FC. This will be a brand-new franchise set to enter the MLS in 2025. San Diego FC has reportedly activated a “discovery claim,” a mechanism in the MLS that allows a club to reserve the rights to negotiate with international players who have not yet played in the U.S.
De Bruyne could soon be facing off against the likes of Lionel Messi, Hugo Lloris, or Olivier Giroud in the MLS.
