After more than 13 years at the helm of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser al-Khelaïfi may be setting his sights on the biggest job in world football.
According to investigative TV program Complément d’Enquête (France 2), aired this Thursday, the Qatari businessman is reportedly considering a run for the FIFA presidency. Filmmaker Fabien Touati, who directed the program, claims that several of Al-Khelaïfi’s close associates have confirmed this ambition.
A key ally of current FIFA president Gianni Infantino, Al-Khelaïfi has already played a major role in shaping the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, set to debut this summer in the United States — a move seen by many as a stepping stone toward global football governance.
With strong influence in UEFA, ECA, and now global tournament planning, Al-Khelaïfi appears to be preparing for a potential power move that could reshape football’s political landscape.
