Mason Greenwood has officially requested to switch his international allegiance to Jamaica, his mother’s country of origin.
The OM forward, who earned his only England cap in 2020, has been absent from the Three Lions setup since Euro 2021, following his exclusion due to legal issues.
Mark Bullingham, CEO of the English FA, confirmed that Greenwood’s request has been approved, meaning he can no longer represent England. He is now set to play for Jamaica at the international level.
“I understand he has formally requested the switch, and once it’s approved, he won’t be eligible for England anymore, as a player can only change nationality once,” Bullingham told The Athletic.
