FIFA President Gianni Infantino is aiming to introduce major rule changes in football.
These proposals will be presented to IFAB in March and could significantly reshape the game as we know it.
Key Proposed Changes:
- The “Wagner Law”: A player will be considered offside only if their entire body is behind the last defender.
- Live referee decision communication: Officials would explain their decisions in real time to improve transparency.
- Video challenges for coaches: Managers could be allowed a limited number of VAR appeals per match.
- Stopping the clock when the ball is out of play: The game clock would pause whenever the ball is out, reducing unnecessary time-wasting.
If approved, these reforms could have a major impact on the pace and fairness of football. All eyes are now on IFAB’s upcoming discussions.
