Paris Saint-Germain is gearing up for an away match against Toulouse this Saturday as part of the 22nd round of Ligue 1. Ahead of the game, coach Luis Enrique addressed the media.
Enrique particularly praised Fabian Ruiz, who has faced criticism from PSG supporters since his arrival. The Spanish coach revealed his deep appreciation for the midfielder, admitting that it was a mistake not to call him up for the 2022 World Cup when he was in charge of Spain.
“It was a mistake on my part, and I own it.”
“I’m really happy with his performances. He’s been criticized at times, but he’s one of my best midfielders. He knows how to adapt his play to his teammates, create assists, play between the lines, move off the ball, create opportunities, and he has a strong shot,” Luis Enrique commented.
“He was also named the best player at the Euros. Not taking him to the World Cup as a coach was a mistake on my part. I take full responsibility for that. I’m very pleased with what he’s contributing both on and off the field. He can still improve, like everyone, but he always gives his all, whether he plays for a minute or 90 minutes. He’s a crucial player for us.”
