This Wednesday at 9 PM CET, Paris Saint-Germain will host Liverpool at the Parc des Princes for the first leg of the 2024-2025 Champions League Round of 16. The return match is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, at Anfield.
In a press conference, Liverpool’s coach, Arne Slot, discussed the challenges his team will face against PSG, a team capable of dictating the pace and dominating possession.
“It is difficult to have a lot of possession against PSG. We have to adapt. They are one of the best teams with the ball and pose a real offensive threat. Their pressing is also very intense.”
Slot wary of Barcola, Dembélé, and Kvaratskhelia
The Dutch coach acknowledges PSG’s attacking quality and does not hide his admiration for their individual talents: “I read that Luis Enrique talked about our attacking speed, but Barcola, Dembélé, and Kvaratskhelia are no less dangerous. We will have a plan, and so will PSG.”
Slot also admitted that Liverpool would have preferred to face Benfica rather than PSG in the Round of 16: “By drawing PSG, we got the toughest matchup. We would have preferred Benfica, that’s obvious.”
