Jonathan Clauss didn’t have the easiest time in Marseille. In an interview with L’Équipe, the OGC Nice right-back revealed how the overwhelming football culture at OM made his daily life unbearable.
“In Marseille, my life was just football and sleep on repeat. I couldn’t go out without people making assumptions about me. There were rumors, and fans judged me based on a false media image. Now, at Nice, I finally feel free—I can go to a restaurant, enjoy a walk in the city, and just live,” he shared.
The former Lens defender admitted he underestimated the pressure: “People warned me, but I thought I’d manage. The reality is, at OM, you’re only seen as a footballer, nothing more. I love spending time with my family, getting fresh air—but in Marseille, that became a problem.”
Now in Nice, Clauss is embracing a more balanced and enjoyable lifestyle.
