PSG in Mourning: Bernard Brochand Dies at 86 : Paris Saint-Germain has lost one of its most influential figures.
The former PSG executive passed away this Tuesday at the age of 86 after spending several days in a coma. A member of the club’s board of directors since 1971, he played a crucial role in PSG’s revival following its split from Paris FC in 1970, alongside Daniel Hechter, Alain Cayzac, and Charles Talar.
As president of the club’s Association, he left his mark on PSG’s history, particularly during Michel Denisot’s tenure, with the team’s 1996 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup victory against Rapid Vienna.
Bernard Brochand also played a key role in the growth of Canal+, encouraging the network to invest more in sports.
An active politician, he served as the Mayor of Cannes (2001-2014) and was elected as a Member of Parliament under the banners of RPR, UMP, and LR. His legacy at PSG and within French sports will remain unforgettable.
