OL: Nicolas Tagliafico Set for Departure? The Defender Looks Ready to Move On

The replacement of Pierre Sage by Paulo Fonseca has not been well received at Olympique Lyonnais, creating unrest within the squad. Among the discontented players is Nicolas Tagliafico, who is facing personal issues and has no intention of extending his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

According to Le Progrès, the World Cup-winning Argentine has been unhappy with the club’s recent turmoil and no longer feels safe in Lyon. Even a European qualification would not be enough to convince him to stay, as he plans to leave OL this summer.

OL Facing a Crisis?

“With his contract ending in June, the World Cup winner has never publicly discussed his future, but privately, he has hinted at leaving a club in turmoil and a city where his wife was the victim of an attempted home-jacking in December 2023,” reports the regional daily.

OL is currently in financial crisis, with the threat of relegation to Ligue 2 still looming, adding further uncertainty to the club’s future.
