Club World Cup: Huge Rewards for Participants and Compensation for Absentees.
The Club World Cup is set to take place this summer, and it promises to be a lucrative event for major clubs like PSG, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. However, even teams that won’t be participating stand to benefit financially.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has announced the prize allocations for the tournament: nearly €1 billion will be distributed among the 32 qualified teams, while an additional €250 million will be given as compensation to non-participating clubs.
Al-Khelaïfi Advocates for European Clubs
According to Spanish outlet AS, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, who also heads the European Club Association (ECA), played a key role in negotiating favorable terms for European teams—including Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. This is particularly surprising given Madrid’s departure from the ECA due to its involvement in the failed Super League project.
Meanwhile, despite not qualifying for the tournament, Barcelona is expected to receive a share of the compensation—a much-needed financial boost for the club, which continues to face serious economic challenges.
