Zlatan Ibrahimović Reassures on Maignan and Hernandez, but a Sacrifice one of on the two Looms.
Zlatan Ibrahimović has addressed the speculation surrounding the futures of Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan, both under contract until 2026. Amid growing transfer rumors, he confirmed that negotiations are ongoing to extend their deals. “We are in talks with Maignan and Hernandez to renew their contracts. Both are happy to stay here,” Ibrahimović told DAZN.
Despite interest from multiple clubs, AC Milan remains confident that both players are committed to the team.
Maignan Extends Until 2028
After months of negotiations, Mike Maignan (29 years old, 24 Serie A matches this season) has agreed to extend his contract with AC Milan until June 2028, with an option for an additional year, according to Relevo.
As part of the new deal, Maignan will see his salary increase from €3.2M to €5M per season, plus various performance-based bonuses. A well-deserved pay raise for a goalkeeper who has been a cornerstone of the Rossoneri since arriving in 2021.
Theo Hernandez to Be Sacrificed for Transfers?
While Maignan is set to stay, Theo Hernandez’s future remains uncertain. With AC Milan sitting 8th in Serie A and recently eliminated by Feyenoord in the Champions League playoffs (0-1), the club needs financial solutions to rebuild.
Joao Felix, currently on loan, is keen to stay at Milan, but Chelsea is demanding a return on their €50M investment. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan could offload Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao this summer to finance an extended purchase option for Joao Felix until 2026.
A bold decision that could reshape the future of the Rossoneri.
