Unwanted at Manchester United, Marcus Rashford was loaned to Aston Villa this winter, with a €48 million buy option.
However, before his move to Birmingham, FC Barcelona had indeed considered signing the English forward, as confirmed by Deco, the club’s sporting director.
“It’s true, we discussed Marcus Rashford and it was a possible signing, but he couldn’t come. We were not desperate to sign a player. He was not a priority,” Deco said in an interview with Sport.
In the end, the Blaugrana made no signings during the winter transfer window, choosing to focus on squad stability for the remainder of the season. Rashford, meanwhile, will look to revive his form in the Premier League with Aston Villa.
