Florentino Pérez is set to continue his tenure as president of Real Madrid: the club will hold elections, but there will be no opposition to the current president.
Real Madrid has confirmed that presidential elections will take place in 2025, allowing socios to vote for the club’s president for the next four years. According to Spanish media outlet Relevo, Florentino Pérez, the current president, is expected to be the only candidate for re-election.
All is well in Madrid despite some sporting concerns. On January 7, Florentino Pérez will gather the club’s board of directors to begin the electoral process for the election of the president and board for the next four years.
Florentino Pérez has been president of Real Madrid since 2009, after a first term from 2000 to 2006. Under his leadership, the club has won 65 titles, including 37 in football and 28 in basketball. He has become nearly untouchable despite the ongoing challenges surrounding the Mbappé situation.
